Event Name

Inaugural Ceremony of Joint Director of Industries (JDI) & District Industries Centre (DIC), Thane Office

Highlights of the events:

The inaugural ceremony of the Joint Director of Industries (JDI) and District Industries Centre (DIC), Thane Office was held in the presence of eminent dignitaries. The inauguration was graced by Shri Dipendrasingh Kushwaha, IAS, Development Commissioner, and Shri Vijay Suryavanshi, IAS, Divisional Commissioner (Ex Jt. CEO MIDC), who jointly inaugurated the office.

Following the inauguration, Smt. Viju Shirsath briefed the dignitaries on the initiatives of the JDI office for the Konkan Region. On behalf of our associations, we presented the dignitaries with a plant and expressed our appreciation to the Government of Maharashtra for its recent measures in reducing compliance burdens and promoting deregulation over the last three months.

Shri Kushwaha acknowledged these efforts and remarked that “many more such initiatives will be introduced to strengthen the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) framework.” We also highlighted the outcomes of our recent meeting with the Chief Secretary.

During the interaction, we requested a remodification of the MPCB White Category list, noting that while the paper industry is considered, corrugated paper rolls and sheet manufacturers have not been included. The Development Commissioner advised us to submit a formal proposal. Additionally, we handed over a representation regarding MPCB’s recent directive to submit data within 24 hours.

A formal meeting was subsequently conducted by Shri Vijay Suryavanshi, focusing on key concerns of the Wada region including issues related to ESIC, poor road conditions, and irregular power supply. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mishra, CE & SE MSEDCL, and the ESIC Branch Manager, who contributed to the discussions.

The program further included a presentation on products crafted by tribal and weaker section artisans. The lack of adequate market access for these products was highlighted, noting that it is causing traditional crafts to fade away and resulting in migration to urban areas. The JDI office has proposed initiatives to support such artisans, and there is significant potential for COSIA–TSSIA collaboration under COSIA Kaushalya Vikas training programs in this area.

As a token of appreciation, the TSSIA and COSIA team was honored with a beautiful memento created by tribal artisans, symbolizing the cultural heritage and importance of the Konkan districts.
