On 11th July, 2024, COSIA & TSSIA organized workshop focusing on essential compliance requirements under Labour Law, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and banking regulations. The event attracted professionals from various industries, including directors, partners management-level executives, and heads of HR and Accounts, all eager to enhance their understanding of compliances obligations.

Workshop Highlights

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome and opening remarks by CA Nandan Khambete, EC Member of TSSIA, who set a positive tone for the day’s proceedings. He emphasized the critical importance of compliance in today’s complex business landscape and introduced the distinguished speakers, highlighting their extensive and contributions to the fields of Labour Law, GST and banking regulations. His insights laid the foundation for an engaging and informative session.

GST Compliance: Adv. Prakash Patil, founder of Hira Associates, addressed GST-related mandatory compliance topics. His presentation included. 

  • Understanding invoices, debt and credit notes.
  • The process of electronic invoicing.
  • Best practices for maintaining accounts and records, along with audit readiness.
  • Clarification on time and place of supply, reverse charge mechanism (RCM), and input tax credit.
  • Guidance on GST returns and payments, job work and E-way bills.
  • Key updates from the 53rd GST Council Meeting.
  • An Engaging Q & A session allowed participants to clarify doubts and share experiences

Banking and Finance Compliances: This segment, conducted by Adv. Alhad Oak of YNZ Legal, featured insights into regulatory compliance within the banking industry, tailored for various sectors. This session emphasized the importance of adhering to banking regulations to avoid legal pitfalls.

Mandatory compliances under Labour Law: An in-depth discussion was led by Mr. Shamkant Bhavsar –HR Head of Esmech Equipment Pvt. Ltd. He covered critical topics including:

  • Relevant rules and regulations affecting operations.
  • HR Compliance and the importance of data compliance.
  • Health and safety regulations under the Factories Act
  • Insights on ESIC and EPFO requirements.

POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Sensitization: Dr. Wilona Annunciation, a practicing psychiatrist with over 16 years of experience, conducted a sensitization session on creating secure workplaces. She provided essential strategies for fostering a respectful and safe environment, ensuring compliance with POSH regulations.

As the event drew to a close Mr. Ninad Jaywant General Secretary of COSIA delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the speakers for their invaluable knowledge, the participants for their active engagement, and organizing team for their efforts in making the workshop a success.

Mr. Jaywant emphasized on significance of continuous learning and collaboration in promoting compliance across industries, leaving attendees with a sense of purpose and commitment to implement the insights gained.

Participant Engagement

The Workshop fostered an interactive environment, encouraging participants to engage in discussions and share their experiences related to compliance challenges. The diverse expertise of the speakers enriched the learning experience, providing attendees with practical knowledge applicable to their respective industries. More than 80 individuals participated representing various MSMEs.

The workshop successfully highlighted the significance of compliance in today’s regulatory landscape.

Attendees left with a clearer understanding of their obligations and actionable strategies to implement within their organization.
